On my second day, the Largemouth team asked me to describe my goals for the internship – and I realized that I didn’t have an answer. I’ve never been asked that question as an intern before. I’ve had great experiences but was never asked to outline meaningful personal goals. That’s when I realized that Largemouth is not a typical PR agency, and that this would not be a typical internship. This semester I will not only to develop my skills as PR practitioner, but contribute to a team that is genuinely concerned with helping me accomplish my career goals. I can’t think of a better way to kick off the new year!

I look forward to honing my communication skills, gaining valuable insight into the PR industry and crafting focused, smart messages for Largemouth’s clientele.

As for goals, I’ve finally come up with my answer. This semester, I’d love to:

1.Become a media maven: I’d like to gain a fuller understanding of the PR industry and become an expert at monitoring developing industry trends.

2.Learn from the best: Largemouth boasts some of the best PR talent in the Triangle, and I plan to take advantage of this group’s wealth of knowledge and experience.

3.Be an asset to the team: Time to put those hours of studying AP style to the test! My goal is to improve the creativity, accuracy and focus of my writing during my time here. Above all, I aim to be a valued resource for Largemouth and its clients.
