Charlotte Local Wins Free Gas for a Year at Kangaroo Express Marathon

Cary, N.C., Dec. 9, 2011 – The Pantry, Inc. (Nasdaq: PTRY), the leading independently operated convenience store chain in the southeastern United States, today announced that Charlotte local, Travis Haston, won free gas for a full year from Kangaroo Express and Marathon.
Haston will accept his grand prize at the Kangaroo Express at 6500 Fairview Road in Charlotte, the location where he entered to win, on Thursday, Dec. 15.
"This is wonderful, it will help with getting around town, that's for sure," said Travis. "My wife will sure appreciate it. It may be a surprise Christmas present for her."
Three additional winners of free gas for a year will be announced every Friday through Dec. 30. You can enter to win by filling up with eight or more gallons of Marathon fuel at a participating Kangaroo Express Marathon location in Charlotte, N.C., Birmingham, A.L., Greenville, S.C. and Spartanburg, S.C. After fueling up, just text "GAS" to "67777" and enter your unique code when promoted.

• Present at a minimum an 8 gallon fuel purchase receipt from a Kangaroo Express/Marathon location at the time of purchase.
• Limited to one text code per receipt.
• Must text GAS to 67777 and enter your code when prompted to be entered to win.
• Entries will be accepted beginning December 1, 2011 and will be accepted thru December 30th, 2011.
• Winners will be selected on December 9, 16, 23, and 30.
• Winners will be contacted each Monday following the selection.
• The Pantry Employees and their family members may not enter and are not eligible to win.
• Must at least 16 years old and present a valid driver's license to win.
• Free Gas for a Year is based on $50 per week for 52 weeks.
• The winner will receive 52 $50 Kangaroo Express/Marathon gas cards.

• Contest is taking place in Charlotte, NC, Greenville, SC, Spartanburg, SC and Birmingham, Al.
