Traveling Media Correspondent—Summer Position
Salute Our Troops is an award-winning fundraising campaign for military support groups. The Salute Our Troops Traveling Media Correspondent is an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is passionate about supporting our military and their families, and has the skills and personality to engage consumers. As the Traveling Media Correspondent for Salute Our Troops, you will be on the front lines of our digital marketing efforts. You will be responsible for creating exciting, engaging content to appear on our Twitter, Facebook and S.O.T Blog – and interacting directly with consumers.
The correspondent is an integral member of the Salute Our Troops Caravan traveling from Florida to North Carolina, raising money and awareness for the USO, Wounded Warrior Project and various state-based military family assistance programs. You'll gain invaluable experience in media relations, social media, local store marketing, mobile marketing tour execution, and internal communications.
This is a summer position lasting from June 26—September 5, with prior training in Raleigh, NC.
Required Skills:
- Recent College Graduate to 2+ years experience
- Bachelor's Degree in communication, journalism, public relations or similar field
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of marketing and promotion via Facebook, Twitter, blogs and all other social media platforms
- Excellent English-language skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Experience in writing high-quality blog posts, articles, tweets and/or headlines
- Demonstrated skills in photography
- Experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, or advertising is a plus
Basic Responsibilities include:
- Daily travel with the Salute Our Troops Caravan throughout the Southeast
- Daily engagement with store guests and associates, and the surrounding community
- Daily updates of social media properties including Twitter, Facebook and S.O.T. Blog
- Daily capturing of Salute Our Troops activity through photography and videography
- Represent Salute Our Troops in media interviews
Must be available to travel from June 26-September 5. Correspondent will have time off in designated markets.
